"Council creates a forum where a wide diversity of views and ideas can be shared - and a solid base from which effective community action on crucial issues can be launched. There is nothing quite like it anywhere."
John Shewchuk, Chair
The Waterloo Region Crime Prevention Council (CPC) encourages and supports community efforts that reduce and prevent crime, victimization and fear of crime.
Partnerships are at the heart of our approach. With nearly 40 individuals on council that represent local organizations, the CPC addresses known risk factors associated with crime. We do so through:
- research
- local action
- policy development
- advocacy
- public education
Council members represent the community-at-large, social service agencies, schools, public health, municipal planning, justice, corrections, police, media, community and neighbourhood support agencies and political representatives.
We believe that by working together we can make a difference!
