Children & Youth
"It
takes a whole village to raise a child." Keeping this
African proverb in mind, two broad-based recommendations are
used to inform the work of the Council to the present day:
- To
de-stigmatize the public's image of youth and youth violence
- To
support school and out-of-school meaningful and accessible
intervention and prevention programs for ages birth to 18
There
are several documents and discussion papers surrounding youth
that may be of particular interest to you. We have included
several documents in PDF format: A synopsis of Children
and Youth - Current Status, Youth
Crime Fact Sheet, and Highlights
from the Youth Survey in Overview, with an example of a youth
survey from 1997. Also, please review our Child and Youth
Action Team's Discussion Paper on the Ministry
of Education Ontario Schools Code of Conduct.
Children must
be a priority for our energy and resources.
