Safe & Sound

Safe & Sound was a three year demonstration project funded by the National Crime Prevention Centre investment funding. The project ended in December 2002 and worked in three very different neighbourhoods across Waterloo Region on building the capacity of citizens to prevent crime (horizontal actions). This capacity was supported through working with service partners in enhancing their readiness to participate in neighbourhood development work (vertical actions). CONNECT (a one time funded system change project) seeks to build on the vertical level outcomes of Project Safe & Sound. In its brief time Safe & Sound developed an impressive list of accomplishments and garnered resources which have led to some sustainable outcomes.
