Community Engagement
What is community engagement?
Community engagement is
about your participation with others to improve community safety
and help prevent crime. Volunteering at your community
centre, joining a community garden, starting or working with a
local citizens group, advocating for change, fundraising for a
new youth program, helping your neighbour with child care - are
all examples of community engagement.
Are you
concerned about community safety?
An engaged community is a
safer community! Our community engagement coordinators are
available to assist you in resolving issues of loitering,
vandalism, intimidation, discrimination, theft/break & enter, or
drug activity. They are also available to assist with
strengthening community pride, improving relationships
within your community or expanding/improving neighbourhood
services.
How can
we help?
Our community engagement
coordinators act as a helping hand - to answer your questions,
get a process started, provide guidance along the way, or work
with you to develop an action plan. They also act as a
link to other key community resources including: residents,
neighbourhood associations, funders, agencies, faith groups,
police, government and schools.
